About Us – Mint Hill Madness

About Us

MH Madness_0032_edited-1About Us

Mint Hill Madness was started in 1982 for the citizens of Mint Hill to come together as a community and enjoy a family-friendly day of fun.  What started as Mint Hill Madness Day in the parking lot of Bain School has grown into the Town’s largest event of the year, lasting three days over Memorial Day Weekend.  The week prior, you can see Veterans Memorial Park transform into a magical place we call Madness.  As the event approaches, the carnival rides begin to arrive, food vendors crank up their grills, arts and craft vendors begin setting up their booths.  The air is filled with excitement and energy as people prepare for the crowds.  People start to arrive late Friday afternoon and by early evening, the music has begun, you can hear the laughter and screams of joy from the children as they ride their favorite rides, the sweet scent of funnel cakes fill the air.

Mint Hill Madness has something for everyone in the family; tasty food, eclectic live music; fantastic family carnival; arts and craft fair.  All that and more continue on Saturday including an All-American parade, classic car show; the Battle at Mint Hill; and an NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition.  At 9:00 p.m., the live music stops and the countdown to the most amazing part of the festival begins.  5-4-3-2-1…cue the patriotic music and BOOM, the most spectacular fireworks show begins.  For 15 glorious minutes, the sky is filled with color, people are cheering and singing along.  It’s at that moment that you realize that you are part of something special.
